A bunad is more than a costume.

A bunad is the traditional dress of Norway — but it is also a region, a family, a piece of history worn on the body. Each region of Norway has its own bunad, distinguished by its embroidery, its silver, the cut of the bodice, and the colors of the wool. A Hardanger bunad is not a Telemark bunad. The differences matter, and they tell a story.

Most Norwegian-Americans have a bunad waiting in their family history. We are here to help you find yours — and, if you would like, to help you make it.

Hi I'm Gina. Welcome to Bunad Creations.

Gina Nylund came to the United States from Norway in 1980 to attend the University of Wyoming. Forty years later, she is one of very few certified Bunadtilvirkere working in America — and the only place in the country where you can buy components, take a class, and complete your own bunad with a Norwegian-trained teacher beside you. Her training took her back to Norway eight times. Her own Lundeby bunad, completed in 2016, started it all.
